From a coach's perspective, it seems that coaches get accused of favoring their kids a lot...my situation involved my step-son, but I think I went the other direction -- I was probably harder on them than on the other kids on the team...those kids also have to go home EVERY night with the coach, forced to relive the game over and over again....I don't think a lot of people realize what the children of the coach go through when their parent is their coach...it isn't easy for them either....one thing that I do know, whether it is fair or not, kids of coaches seem to spend a lot more time in the gym around the sport when they are younger...that gives them an advantage on knowing the game at an early age....
